Why is the radio in my 2006 Toyota Camry malfunctioning?

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

citirae asked:

When listening to the radio in my 2006 Toyota Camry, the radio sometimes changes stations by itself. It moves up or down the dial by .2. I bought the car used, and got the full manufactures warranty, but it seems like that only covers mechanical electrical parts, not “extras” like my radio. Please advise.

good question asked:

My Toyota Camry has been vibrating very rough from start to 3rd gear. It will not go very fast until it goes into third and then it goes OK. I think it might be the transmission. Any ideas?

Toyota Expects Sales to Top Gm’s This Year

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009
toyota camry
asked:

Last Wednesday, Toyota Motor Corp. announced its global production rise of 9.2 percent in November. For 76 years, General Motors held the title of being the world’s largest automaker, and Toyota is starting to shake GM so the crown may fall off.

Toyota is one of the five Japanese automakers who made their overall global production increase for last month.

According to Toyota, they were able to produce a total of 803,663 vehicles globally. On the other hand, its domestic production rate increased by 2.6 percent to 395,788 units. From January until November, Toyota made a total of 7.9 million vehicles with 5.7 percent gains. Domestically, its production output rose by 1.2 percent to 3.9 million units.

The Toyota Camry sedan, Corolla and the Prius gas-electric hybrid are very famous paving way for the automaker’s growth. Toyota leads the smaller and fuel efficient vehicle segment which is rarely affected by continuously increasing gas prices and environmental issues.

GM on the other side is increasing its overseas production not to be dethroned by Toyota.

From January until September of 2007, Toyota sales totaled 9.05 million units worldwide while GM sold 9.6 million vehicles. According to figures from each company, Toyota expects a total of 9.36 million sales while Detroit-based GM will sell 9.3 million vehicles.

Second to Toyota as Japan’s largest automaker is Honda Motor Co. (maker of Acura Cl car cover) Honda announced a sales boost of 10.4 percent in November to 363,046 vehicles compared to last year. Honda’s vehicle production outside Japan rose by 20.5 percent to 243, 777 vehicles while its domestic production slumped by 5.7 percent with only 119, 269 vehicles.

Honda’s largest markets are North America and Europe. The automaker said that its production increased by 7.5 percent to 128,364 vehicles and 58.7 percent to 24, 128 units in the two countries respectively.

Nissan Motor Co.’s global production grew by 14.9 percent globally totaling to 335,088 units. In Japan, Nissan’s production gained 16.5 percent, thanks to production gains of the Infiniti G35 sedan, G37 coupe and the new Rogue and X-Trail models.

Global production for Mitsubishi Motors Corp. gained 6.8 percent to 126,851 vehicles; it is the automaker’s ninth consecutive month of production increase. Domestic production is increased by 6.2 percent while production output abroad boosted 7.8 percent.

Ford Motor Co.’s affiliate, Mazda Motor Corp. announced that its overseas production totaled 26,091 vehicles that include its famous Mazda6 and Mazda3 models.

My ‘94 Toyota Camry starts, but is immobile because it will not allow me to push in the side kn?

K.O. asked:

My ‘94 Toyota Camry starts fine, but is currently immobile because it will not allow me to push in the side knob that enables the car to switch gears. I am not sure what the little knob is called, but it is the one on the left side of the gear shifter that you push in with your thumb while moving the stick to another gear. What could be the problem?

When i research cars online, I get a lot of reviews about how the honda accord is a better overall car than the toyota camry. Why does the camry have more models sold than the accord in 2008? I’m not trying to say that one car is better.

Toyota’s Winning Trio in Canadian Car of the Year Awards

Friday, March 20th, 2009
toyota camry
Mark Clarkson asked:

Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) members pick Camry LE, Camry Hybrid and RAV4 as category winners for the 2007 Canadian Car of the Year. Toyota Trio were given the top honors. Toyota Camry LE won in the Best New Family Car, Toyota Camry Hybrid, in the Best New Family Car, and Toyota RAV4 V6 Sport in the Best New SUV/CUV category.

“Toyota is very happy to accept these awards and on behalf of everyone at Toyota in Canada, I’d like to thank AJAC’s members for these honors,” said Stephen Beatty, Managing Director at Toyota Canada Inc. “The Toyota Camry is North America’s most popular passenger car. The Toyota Camry Hybrid represents an important evolution of gasoline-electric hybrid technology in the second most popular market segment in Canada. And the redesigned Toyota RAV4 will be manufactured in Woodstock, Ontario when our new assembly plant, currently under construction, begins production in 2008.”

Toyota Camry, a midsize car built in Georgetown, Kentucky plant, is the best-selling car in the United States for 8 of the last 9 years starting in 1997. Now in its sixth generation, auto parts for Toyota Camry have been notably redesigned though the length of the car remained unchanged. Kentucky plant produces approximately 45,000 Camrys annually.

Toyota Camry OEM parts boast functionality and style. The new Camry is also being manufactured by Toyota Motor Corporation Australia. The new generation Camry in Australia went on sale last August. Its model range is composed of the Altise, Ateva, Sportivo and Grande.

This year, Toyota created a hybrid version of Camry. It was introduced alongside with the redesigned Camry. The car employs Hybrid Synergy Drive setup, which is identical to that of Prius, Highlander Hybrid and Lexus RX 400h. Camry Hybrid uses a 4-cylinder gasoline engine that is capable of producing 192 horsepower. Standard features of the Camry Hybrid include knee airbags, side torso airbags and side-curtain airbags, remote entry and start.

Toyota RAV4, on the other hand, is a compact crossover SUV which was significantly redesigned for the 2006 model year. For now, Toyota RAV4 auto parts are assembled in the automaker’s Tahara, Aichi, Japan assembly plant. However, the assembly is expected to be transferred in Woodstock, Ontario, Canada assembly plant when the latter comes online.

“These three vehicles are extremely important to Toyota’s vision of the future of personal transportation in Canada,” Mr. Beatty continued. “Therefore, we’re pleased that they have been selected by AJAC’s members as the best in their respective categories.”

AJAC is an association composed of professional journalists, writers and photographers who are responsible for the coverage in Canada’s auto industry.

I bought a used Toyota Camry(’96) with 143,000 miles on it. It runs great, looks good. I paid $2800 and I’m just wondering really how many miles I should expect If I take good care of it. Some say Toyota’s last forever but we all know nothing really lasts forever.

Toyota Rules the September Sales

Sunday, March 15th, 2009
toyota camry
Mark Clarkson asked:

Toyota Motor Corp. is taking pleasure in not only the prestige given to it by car critics and aficionados but the results of the September sales. The limelight, along with its gratifying benefits is now seized by the automaker.

According to the September sales report, automakers sold a total of 1.35 million cars and trucks in the U.S. Toyota sold 25 percent more than its sales last year of the same month. Among the vehicles that rank high in sales are Toyota Camry, Corolla and Yaris. The increase in sales also benefited Toyota Corolla parts as well as that of Camry and Yaris

Toyota sold 222,950 vehicles in September. Toyota’s car sales soared 18.4 percent while truck sales increased by 34.9 percent. Erich Merkle, an analyst with Grand Rapids-based auto consulting company IRN Inc. said, “They’re this 800-pound gorilla out there that nobody can stop.”

The sales figures of Toyota’s Tundra pickup have increased by 12,609 units, 74 percent higher than the previous record. However, it is way behind the leading Ford F-Series, with 70,822 units sold. Chevrolet Silverado lands on the second spot with51,964 units sold.

Xavier Dominicis, Toyota spokesman said, “Tundra sales were in part fueled by fall incentives aimed at making room for the 2007 model, which goes on sale in February. The offers vary by region.”

GM sold 334,025 vehicles. Said figure is 3.1 percent lower than the previous year’s sales. Critics are saying that greater part of the loss is attributed to the auto giant’s plan to wean low-profit fleet sales to rental companies.

Paul Ballew, GM’s executive director of global market and industry analysis, noted that even though there was a shift back toward trucks in the past six weeks, Ballew wants to wait until the fourth quarter prior to enunciating future trends. He added, “I think it’s too early to say that all the pressures from gas prices are gone.”

On the bright side of it, Ford has benefited 4.7 percent gain in sales. Ford’s gain to 237,664 vehicles was triggered largely by car purchases, which has increased by 26.2 percent. Nonetheless, the automaker has suffered 5.5 percent truck sales reduction. The figures include Volvo, Jaguar and Land Rover all are Ford’s brands.

Toyota Reports 1 Million Hybrids Sold

Thursday, March 12th, 2009
toyota camry
Anthony Fontanelle asked:

The popularity of the gas-electric hybrid Toyota Prius in the United States cannot be denied. Its fuel efficiency made it a favorite among car buyers as the awareness concerning the threat of global warming increases. The increasing price of gasoline has also made the Prius a favorite among car buyers.

Recently, Japan’s largest car manufacturer Toyota reported that they have sold more than a million units of hybrid cars all over the world. The company announced that there are approximately 1,047,000 units of the fuel efficient vehicles as of the 31st of May this year with Prius having the bulk of the sale.

The Prius made its debut in Toyota’s home country of Japan in 1997 as well as in Europe. After the positive acceptance of Japanese car buyers of the Prius and the increased demand for fuel efficient vehicle in the United States, Toyota introduced the Prius in the country and the vehicle was received with much praise. The Prius was introduced in the United States auto market in 2000.

In 2003, the Toyota Prius received its first major redesign. Toyota made the car larger so that it can attract more attention from Americans who are looking for roomy vehicles without sacrificing fuel economy.

The redesign made the second generation of the Prius into a hatchback. Aside from the body style change, fuel efficiency was improved, thanks to an improved powertrain which is called the Hybrid Synergy Drive. Toyota made changes to the way the vehicle powers its air conditioning unit thus reducing the load on the small internal combustion engine.

As far as the construction of the second-generation Prius is concerned, it was made more aerodynamic. During the release of the redesigned Prius, it has the second lowest coefficient of drag of only 0.26. The Honda Insight is the only vehicle then that has a lower coefficient of drag at 0.25.

Another improved aspect of the Prius in 2003 is its regenerative braking system. This means that the car’s battery pack is provided with more power. According to the company, the improved regenerative braking system does not rely heavily on the friction-type brakes. With that improvement, Toyota claims that the stock brake pads will last for the entire life of the car.

Aside from the Prius, the Hybrid Synergy Drive has been used by the company on other auto models. The Toyota Camry has a hybrid version as well as the Toyota Highlander. The hybrid version of the Highlander uses the electric motor to enhance its performance which is considered to be similar in performance to a Celica equipped with a Toyota Celica cold air intake system.

Aside from the Camry and the Highlander, the company also offers hybrid versions of their Lexus vehicles. The Lexus RX350 has a hybrid version known as the Lexus RX400h.

The Prius and other hybrid vehicles from Toyota are being marketed in more than 40 countries across the world. In Japan, Toyota reported a sale of 345,000 units of their hybrid vehicles. Outside Toyota’s home country, the company sold 702,000 hybrids. The Prius is currently the best selling hybrid vehicle. According to the company, the more than 1 million hybrid vehicles sold contributed to a reduction of an estimated 3.5 million tons of carbon dioxide emission.
