Sixth Generation Camry for 2007

Sunday, January 11th, 2009
toyota camry
Lauren Woods asked:

The sedan is one of the most common automobile body styles both in the United States and other parts of the globe. Being popular among consumers, car manufacturers produce more and more of these to meet the demand of car buyers.

The huge production of sedans leads to a very competitive sedan market. Because of that competition, car manufacturers always come up with improvements on their sedans year after year. It is not surprising that the popular Toyota Camry is now in its sixth generation of redesign. For the 2007 model year, the Japanese outfit redesigned the Camry aiming for an increased sale.

The Toyota Camry is the best selling sedan in the United States for nine out of the past ten years starting in 1997. Toyota reported to have sold an average of 400,000 units of the Camry every year for the past ten years. And to continue their dominance, Toyota has improved the Camry’s styling to appeal even to younger consumers.

One of the most notable changes in the Toyota Camry is its exterior design. The 2007 Camry now sports a fresh design on its nose accentuated by the Toyota logo on its tip. The headlamps are also redesigned to give the Camry a friendlier look. The styling cues have been redesigned to attract the younger car buyers who are aesthetically tuned with regards to cars. In fact, the Camry’s redesigned exterior style reduced its coefficient of drag to just 0.28 and that is almost the same as that of sports car.

As can be expected from Toyota, the redesigned Camry is loaded with advanced features. The top of the line trim package, the XLE, has a long list of features car buyers would surely love. The XLE enables the vehicle to come equipped with a V6 engine which provides adequate power for an all around car. The Toyota Camry’s performance can further be enhanced with the use of aftermarket parts such as Jet chips cold air intake systems.

Facilitating the smooth transfer of power from the engine to the drive wheels is a precision engineered six-speed automatic transmission. The gearbox delivers that power to the 16-inch alloy wheels with disc brakes and an anti-lock braking system to boot.

Added features includes integrated fog lamps, halogen automatic headlights, power and heated outside mirrors, a dual exhaust with chrome tips, a sliding center arm rest, power driver and passenger leather seats, a dual zone climate control system, rear vents and ionizer, as well as a cruise control. Aside from that, the 2007 Camry is also equipped with JBL premium 8-speaker, a digital sound system with MP3, Bluetooth access, and in-dash 8-disc CD player for entertainment. Safety is also given attention with Toyota giving the Camry at least nine airbags. The complete lineup of airbags includes one for the driver’s knees. All in all, the 2007 Toyota Camry is one of the leaders in the sedan market in the United States.

Camry, Motor Trend’s 2007 Car of the Year

Saturday, January 10th, 2009
toyota camry
Mark Clarkson asked:

2007 Toyota Camry, the redesigned version, won Motor Trend Magazine’s 2007 Car of the Year award. Said award went to all variations of the car including the hybrid. According to Angus MacKenzie, editor-in-chief of the magazine, Camry is innovative yet has a broad appeal. This is the first year said vehicle has won the award.

“The Camry is the one car rival automakers all wish they could build. It offers something for nearly everyone performance, efficiency and roominess at a price point most Americans can afford,” MacKenzie said.

According to the magazine, the version of Toyota Camry outshone 26 cars that are either totally new or redesigned before the year 2007. Japanese automakers had 10 cars, the US automakers has 6, 5 from Korea, 4 from Germany, 1 from Sweden, and also 1 from United Kingdom. MacKenzie said the redesigned Camry won in a very strong field. “There have never been more choices available to American car buyers. That is a fact of life in the 21st century,” MacKenzie added.

Motor Trend’s staffers evaluated the entries according to their innovation in engineering, design, safety and technology; their performance and quality; and whether the vehicle delivers value to the consumer. In Motor Trend’s search, Camry’s competitors were Chrysler Sebring, Saturn Aura, Nissan Altima, Kia Rondo, Honda Fit, Mercedes-Benz S Class, Volvo C70 T5 and the Volkswagen Rabbit.

Through October this year, Toyota Motor Company reported 350,481 sales of Camry. So far, Camry is the hottest-selling car in the United States. Next to Camry is Toyota Corolla. The information was released by Autodata Corp.

Sixth generation of the vehicle uses redesigned auto parts for Toyota Camry. These parts are assembled at the Toyota plant in Georgetown, Kentucky; Aichi, Japan; and Melbourne, Australia. Camry is competing against Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata, Nissan Altima, Mitsubishi Galant, Mazda6, Ford Fusion and the Chevrolet Malibu.

Corolla, on the other hand, is known for its low fuel consumption, reliability and distinct Toyota engineering. Corolla is manufactured in Japan, the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Malaysia, Taiwan, Pakistan, South Africa, Brazil, Venezuela, China, Philippines, Thailand, Turkey and India.

The tenth generation Corolla was introduced in Japan this year. In this generation, the automaker incorporated advanced equipment to Toyota Corolla car parts. Advanced equipment include rearview monitor display, one-touch double folding rear seats, and Pre-crash Safety System. Toyota Corolla will be offered in Australia and United States next year.

Gm, Ford Sales Crash in ‘06, Toyota, Honda Climb

Thursday, January 8th, 2009
toyota camry
Shane Morgay asked:

Brand new year calls for an analysis of the previous year’s performance for the benefit of improvement. In the automotive industry, Toyota and Honda stand on the bright side of 2006. Said automakers experienced a rewarding increase in sales. On the contrary, GM and Ford stand on the bleak abyss of the industry because of sales doldrums.

GM reported US sales of 4.1 million vehicles in 2006, down by 8.7 percent from 2005. The decrease is attributed to the shift of market demand in favor of small cars. GM is famed for its sophisticated sport utility vehicles and pickups. Enthusiasts believe that 2005 GMC truck accessories are manufactured with excellence just like other auto parts from the automaker.

Paul Ballew, chief sales analyst of GM said, “It was a challenging one. It’s a year that came in below expectations and deviated from our plans at the start of the year.” In December, GM reported a 13 percent drop in sales. According to the automaker the decline was due in part to sticking with GM’s decision to lower rental fleet vehicles sales and other marginally profitable sales. Ford parts accessories did not show any luring effect. According to some enthusiasts, Ford’s 2006 reports aren’t likely to help the ailing automaker.

Ford also reported sales of 2.9 million vehicles, 7.9 percent down compared to 2005 sales. For the month of December, Ford vehicle sales was down by 12.8 percent - 9.9 percent for cars and 14.0 for trucks.

On the bright side of 2006, Toyota and Honda enjoy a gratifying increase in sales. Toyota’s sales were up by over 12 percent in December and for the entire year. Consumers purchased 2.54 million cars and trucks with the Toyota, Scion or Lexus brand name. Leading Toyota sales is its Camry that retains its title as the best-selling car in America. There are 448,445 Camrys sold in 2006, about 3.9 percent up from 2005 sales. 05 Toyota Camry accessories are playing significant part in making the vehicle a top-seller.

Jim Lentz, executive vice president for Toyota Motor Sales USA said, “2006 was a respectable year for the industry if you consider the strain of erratic fuel prices and a housing bubble on an industry weaning itself from incentives.”

With regards to Honda, its December sales fell by 0.8 percent but its 2005 sales were up by 3.2 percent. According to Dick Colliver, executive vice president of American Honda, the automaker has benefited from having a line-up of fuel-efficient vehicles.

Car of the Year: Toyota Camry

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009
toyota camry
Mark Clarkson asked:

Not much of a surprise for me and perhaps for dozens of other car and vehicle aficionados. Sure, the Toyota Motor Corporation’s Toyota Camry has once again been recognized to be quite a remarkable car. This time, the recognition comes from the Motor Trend magazine and it gave the Toyota Camry the Car of the Year award for 2007.

It was sure not just any kind of competition. You see, the Toyota Camry was up against various car models. In fact, it had to go through close scrutiny and it had some other twenty seven other vehicle models to compete with. Yes, the Toyota Camry was up against other vehicles from various auto makers like General Motors, Nissan, and Honda.

According to Motor Trend, as part of its recognition for such a reliable and trusted vehicle, it has also honored all of the vehicles under the Toyota Camry name for the model year 2007. The list of Toyota Camry versions for 2007 even includes a hybrid vehicle that runs on gasoline and electricity. Angus MacKenzie is the editor in chief of Motor Trend and in a statement he delivered a couple of days back, he says, “Creating an innovative, engaging automobile with broad mainstream appeal is one of the toughest tasks facing any automaker. The Camry is the one car rival automakers all wish they could build.”

As on the Toyota Motor Corporation’s end, it was Mike Michels, the spokesperson for the company, who shared the company’s view: “It’s hard to quantify the effect on sales, but the Motor Trend award has a lot of corollary benefits. This really energizes the sales operation, the dealers, and for internal morale it’s a wonderful thing.” Toyota is also the creator of other vehicle models like the Toyota Corolla and also of vehicle products like Toyota T100 body parts.

So what was the Toyota Camry up against? Well, the list of contenders that the Toyota Camry had to deal with included the Saturn Aura which is a sedan from GM. Also, some vehicles from the Nissan line also competed against the Toyota Camry. These include the sedans Nissan Altima, Nissan Sentra, and the Infiniti G35.

How Buying a Used Toyota Vehicle Can Help Young Drivers Save Money

Saturday, January 3rd, 2009
toyota camry
Abby Reid asked:

The United States is currently facing somewhat of an economic crisis, and saving any little bit of money can significantly help your financial future. As the nation faces serious threats of a recession, money-conscious citizens should take every action that they can to spend less, earn more and save as much as possible. Careless and irresponsible spending habits can quickly and easily place a person in a metaphorical economic ditch, and it can take months, or even years, to dig oneself out.

Surviving the country’s current economic situation has been difficult for everyone, but the nation’s financial crisis is probably most problematic for recent Pittsburgh college graduates or entry-level job-seekers who are living with low salaries, little or no benefits and a plethora of expenses. How can a recent college graduate or person in his or her 20s in the Pittsburgh area possibly survive this monetary predicament? Between the regular costs of rent, mortgages, car payments, insurance premiums, student loans and other miscellaneous expenses, it can be nearly impossible for young people to stay afloat.

Buying a reliable used Pittsburgh Toyota car, like the Toyota Camry or Toyota Avalon, is one of the many ways that recent college graduates or twenty-somethings can save money and spend less. Pittsburgh Toyota cars are considerably less expensive than new cars, do not depreciate as quickly in value as new vehicles and can still provide a young buyer with several years of dependable driving.

Before purchasing a used Toyota car, like the Toyota Camry or Toyota Corolla, young drivers should explore the many different options that lay before them. It is no secret that certain brands of automobiles have more solid reputations than others. Foreign models like the Toyota Camry or Toyota Corolla, have over an 80% reliability rating. Certain used and new car dealerships, like Greensburg Toyota, help car purchasers find the best car deals on models like the Toyota Avalon, Toyota Camry, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Echo, Toyota Matrix, Toyota Prius or Toyota Yaris.

Young car buyers will save more money over a long period of time if they purchase an automobile that is dependable, reliable and possesses a solid reputation. You can read consumer reports on Toyota car models like the Toyota Echo or Toyota Corolla, on a number of Web sites, like edmunds. While you may be tempted to buy a swanky, new car model with a variety of extra capabilities, many new vehicles come equipped with a variety of unnecessary additional features that simply add more money to the model’s overall price.

Many car dealerships, like Greensburg Toyota, are fully aware of the difficulties that young people face when first graduating from college or working in entry-level positions. These dealerships will gladly work with twenty-somethings who are attempting to find the best deal possible on a reliable Pittsburgh used Toyota car or truck.

If possible, it is smart to pay for your new Toyota car, truck or SUV in cash. Avoiding taking out a loan from a local bank will help you save significant money on interest charges.

Johnny Benson to Drive No. 46 Toyota Camry as Nextel Cup Visits Richmond

Thursday, January 1st, 2009
toyota camry
Lauren Woods asked:

The tenth race of the ongoing Nextel Cup Series is set to take place on the 5th May this year at the Richmond International Speedway. This year’s race will be called the “Crown Royal Presents the Jim Stewart 400” after the winner of the essay writing contest sponsored by the Crown Royal.

As drivers, engineers and racing personalities gear up for the race, Johnny Benson is also taking preparation in his sixth start this year. Recently, the veteran driver talked about his relationship with present employer Wyler Racing.

Johnny Benson was recently named by the team to drive the no. 46 Toyota Camry at the next race of the season. Benson looked back on how he got the job. “The Wyler’s and (Crew Chief) Tony Furr asked me to do some testing for them at the end of last year and we thought that test went pretty well,” says Benson. “As this year got underway, they were talking about doing some more testing and called to see if I would do it. I said, “Yeah, I’d be glad.” I thought it would be pretty cool to help them test and just to help them out. I like doing that type of stuff,” he continued. After testing, the team apparently liked his performance which led to him being named as the team’s starter. “We went to Richmond earlier this month and the test went very well. I was hoping that if they ever went racing I’d get an opportunity to drive. I told them that they didn’t have any obligation for me to drive it, but that I would love to have the chance. This past week they called and said that we were going to race at Richmond and that I could drive, so I was pretty excited about it. It’s a pretty cool deal,” enthused Benson.

As far as his expectation for the upcoming race and his familiarity with the track, Benson appears to be ready for the race. “I think as a whole Richmond has been a great track for me. I love racing there. I love the type of track it is. I like how the racers approach that track knowing it’s a two groove race track.” Benson also pointed out his love for the track in his recent statement. “You can race anywhere you want,” he says. “You don’t have to beat and bang your way past somebody. It’s just a great race track. And it’s a Saturday night race which is great for the fans and you know the whole atmosphere aspect of it is good. It’s a type of track that I like. It’s a challenging track but it’s also a finesse style race track. I think that falls within my suit. I’ve had a lot of great races there and some that we’ve run really well that don’t have the finishes to prove that based off being caught up in something. But it’s a place that I really enjoy and love to race at.”

The next race will be held in relatively shorter tracks than other speedways. For Benson, this fact is considered as an advantage. “I like racing on all of the tracks that we go too. They all have their own challenges. But I think as most racers - because we grew up on short tracks - we always enjoy racing on them,” says Benson. “We do so many intermediate tracks now that the short tracks are a little more few and far between; maybe not so much in the Truck Series, but in the Cup Series. So I think we all enjoy going back and running the short track races.”

While Benson has had good races in Richmond and he admitted that the track is to his liking, how he performs in the actual race is evident on how he has tested his Camry at the speedway. To his credit, Benson looks set to have a good race after he has completed his test of the track with no sign of problems at all. “I think the communication that I had with Tony Furr at the test in Richmond was excellent,” he said. “We unloaded for the test and were decent right off of the truck,” he added. He also credited his team for the way the test has gone. “As the day went on, I was pretty impressed by Tony and all the guys that work at Wyler Racing. I was impressed when I worked with them at the Homestead test last year and then, of course, at Richmond too. They all work well together and communicate well. Our speeds were good and we were happy with our qualifying efforts and our speeds in race trim.”

While testing good is a positive boost for the team, Benson knows that the actual race will be a different area. “It will be a different deal going back for the race, but I hope we can maintain the type of run that we had at the test,” Benson said. “The opportunity sitting in front of us is a good opportunity to hopefully go there and run well,” he concluded.

With Benson’s driving experience, his familiarity with the track and his admission that the next track they will be racing on is to his liking, there is a positive chance that he will have a good race come May 5. Aside from that, he has a Toyota Camry to drive which is engineered to provide more boost than standard a Toyota Camry equipped with a Toyota cold air intake system.
