Hybrid Camry’s Now Kentucky-made

Sunday, May 25th, 2008
camry
Mark Clarkson asked:

The first Kentucky-made hybrid Camry, which is based from the most famous family sedan, rolled off the assembly line last Thursday. This move, which serves as a great milestone to the Japanese automaker, is made to amass a bigger slice in the U.S. automotive market share.

Toyota Camry Hybrid was introduced in May 2006. It is equipped with potent Toyota Camry parts like the four-cylinder gasoline engine combined with electric motors to generate a peak of 187 horsepower (140 kW). Toyota Camry A/C condenser, and the entire heater/air conditioning unit, brakes and power steering used in the vehicle are all electric. Moreover, the car can run just by using the electric motors.

Production of Camry hybrid in Georgetown Toyota plant is fixed at 48,000 for this year. This will entitle customers the option of a midsize hybrid that offers better gas mileage than other compact vehicles. Camry hybrid is given a rating of 43/37 miles per gallon on highway/city. 2007 Camry hybrid is given a base price of $25,900.

Toyota expended $10 million to modify equipment and train workers to generate Camry hybrid at the Georgetown plant. Said plant employs approximately 7,000 workers to work on Solara and Avalon models, aside from Camry.

Toyota Camry hybrid is powered with a 147 horsepower four-cylinder engine and a 40 horsepower electric motor. The automaker revealed that the gasoline engines for the hybrid will now be manufactured at Georgetown plant. However, special components of the car will be transported from Japan.

As of last month, there are 21,430 units of Japan-made Camry hybrid sold in the United States. Toyota Prius, on one hand, outsells other hybrids that are gas-electric models. Toyota will be relying on car enthusiasts moving to fuel-saving cars. Furthermore, critics are saying that there is already an apparent big switch in favor of hybrids. This will redound to the benefit of automakers banking on said vehicles.

kramulous asked:

I have a Toyota Camry 1989 that starts first time everytime, but the automatic transmission has died while on holidays. It is in good condition except for the auto transmission. Do I fix the transmission and sell it, or is there a business that will take it away and pay a bit of cash? What businesses are there? I’ve bought a new car.

I live in MacGregor (Brisbane) Australia

Dynamic Simplicity Imbibed in New Altima

Saturday, May 24th, 2008
camry
Tom Bailey asked:

Nissan has finally set forth a striking Altima with a revolutionary platform and evolutionary design that spell dynamic simplicity.

“Altima is 100% original and 100% Nissan, rather than a copy of existing mid-size sedan offerings,” said Brad Bradshaw, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division. “In creating this next generation Altima, we didn’t take for granted the things it already did well. We refined or enhanced all areas exterior, interior and under the skin.”

The upcoming Altima will be equipped with improved parts Nissan including revised engine versions. This car model, which belongs to the fourth generation, will incorporate the VQ35DE 3.5 L V6 engine that produces 270 horsepower, and the QR25DE 2.5 L I4 that generates 175 horsepower.

Altima will also sport groundbreaking innovations like Push-button start, advanced navigation system, advanced Xtronic CVT, parking camera and Bluetooth capability for cell phones. The redesigned version of the car appears to have several Toyota Camry parts. As a fact, Altima’s wheelbase has close resemblance to that of Camry’s.

“We understand that mid-size sedan buyers are looking for more from their vehicles than transportation they seek a higher sense of self reward, along with a quality feel, enhanced comfort and a wide range of convenience features,” added Bradshaw. “The new 2007 Altima builds on these strengths, protecting Altima’s hard-fought standing as the sedan of choice for discerning, enthusiast buyers. And now, as a true competitor rather than just an alternative, we predict Altima will find an even wider audience.”

Bradshaw concluded, “The new 2007 Altima is one of the first vehicles in class to offer such a high level of features, such as the available Intelligent Key and RearView Monitor, touch-screen navigation with voice recognition and dual-zone automatic temperature control. With distinctive styling, dynamic performance, high quality roomy interior and great features, the new Altima raises the standard in the segment once again. In a sea of sameness, Altima engages the senses and stirs the soul.”

The new Altima exudes an entirely unique, distinctive and exotic car appeal design and quality-wise. As Bradshaw put it, “It’s quiet, comfortable and rewarding.”

Why does the new Toyota camry have a nose like a chipmunk or beaver?

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

boone_platoon asked:

As long as you get the Camry with the body kit and full trim it looks fine….yeah, still the same car, but i imagine the designers could have made it look more lean………todays cars are getting thicker and fatter……compare the old camry with the new camry ….i mean really, people generally havent grown so much that now the cars have to grow as well …….a thick gigantic hood, oversized everything……even the new Dodge caliber is gigantic compared to the neon it replaces.

Toyota Grabs Its First Pole Position in Nascar

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008
camry
Kaye Leery asked:

For the first time this season, Toyota has earned its NASCAR Nextel Cup pole position, thanks to Dave Blaney, who drove his No. 22 Caterpillar Toyota Camry and set the fastest lap time in the recent practice test that took place at the New Hampshire International Speedway in Loudon.

Blaney pushed his Toyota “Car of Tomorrow” Camry equipped with Toyota Sway Bar Link to reach a maximum speed of 129.437 mph, and clocked in at 29.426 leaving other drivers behind. Blaney’s achievement is a milestone for Toyota Racing team as this is the first time that a Toyota car obtained a pole finish. Dave Blaney will put his Toyota Camry in the number 1 starting position at the upcoming Lenox Industrial Tools 300 race this coming July.

Check out what Dave Blaney said after the qualifying race.

“It feels good to get the first pole for Toyota and hopefully this is the first step in many successful days of poles and wins. We’ve been good all day and been getting a lot of speed out of the car. All of the Toyotas have been real good lately and Brian Vickers has had some good runs lately too. The Toyota side is definitely working hard and I just can’t thank everyone at Bill Davis Racing enough. Especially Tommy Baldwin, Bill Davis, Mike Brown and everybody. We’ve had a trying year with problems and DNFs. It’s been tough being out of the top-35 because it’s hard to concentrate on the races when you have to concentrate on getting into them. This is a big confidence booster for the whole team and any day where you can build confidence in your entire team and driver makes for a good day.”

The press asked Blaney if he already had the feeling that he would grab the pole, and he said:

“I watched everybody early and I saw that some of their speeds were falling off some from practice. I wasn’t sure what we could run and I knew we didn’t really change anything from practice. But in my situation I have to focus on getting into the race more than going for the pole. I can’t make a mistake and risk not getting into the race. I was a little conservative on my first lap, but when I found out that it was fast enough to get into the show — I gave that second lap a little more and I was able to put it on top of the board. It’s a tough position to be in because you have to be cautious enough to get it, but aggressive enough to get in the race. But yeah - I thought we could get the pole.”

NASCAR fans will surely watch out for the upcoming race in Loudon and see if Dave Blaney can give his Toyota team its first NASCAR victory.

Will a 6 cylindar Camry engine last longer than a 4 cylindar on the same car?

Monday, May 19th, 2008
camry
Mark asked:

I am deciding whether it is worth the extra money to buy the 6 cylinder Camry as compared to the 4 cylinder. I don’t need to tow anything so I don’t need the extra power. I just want the engine to last longer and have the car longer. Will the 6 cylinder give me extra years or only extra power?
This is a new car, no miles.
